power steering reach rod 59-64 Hawk

Does anyone know the shop manual-provided dimension of the reach-rod and valve assembly (overall)length for the 59-64 GT hawk power steering setup? I am putting this into a 53 coupe, and previously, on another '53 project, used the avanti dimension, but I suspect this isn't exactly correct. There is a specific length the reachrod/valve assembly achieves, after the rod is screwed into the female stub of the valve assembly , that the shop manual specifies , and should be adhered to, when putting it all together. The reach rod has one end that screws into the valve assy, the other goes onto the bellcrank, and there is a fair amount of play/leeway when it's put together, because of the threaded section on the rod. I would sure like to know the proper dimension, in inches, if anyone could check in the appropriate shop manual. If no one knows, then I certainly can purchase a reprint manual, but for one page, it seems a waste.... thanks- m. weiss

Without taking into consideration, the slight bend in the arm, it's 17" from the center of the pinch clamp to the center of the tie rod end

The Avanti manual calls for 15 inches. They show the proper way to measure. The control valve is parallel and the rod angles upward. Measure along the baseline of the triangle formed from the control valve pivot and a perpendicular to the ball joint. This is from the Avanti manual.

Thank you.I have the Avanti manual, but the components are sized differently; that's the question. One measures from the pitman arm shaft(cam lever stud) to the end of the reach rod in a direct line. It's a lot longer for the hawk setup, than the 15 inches on the avanti.. I basically have set the reachrod in place with all other components arranged for perfect centering, i.e., steering gear on the high spot, centered, wheels straight ahead, center of bellcrank centered between the lower outer A arm grease zerks. This seems to be the only way. I will check out the chassis manual online, thank you so much Bob- m weiss
