Gold trac is another one but not popular because of price. They are out there you just have to look for them.

Just looked around for some Dana 44 Power-loc (Twin Traction) 19 spine units. If I buy the last six, I can get them for $408 each.

Since the Power-loc is also the carrier, make sure you get ones for the ratios you are interested in (either 3.73 and down or 3.92 and up)

          Lookie here!

The Lock Right transfers power from slipping wheels to the ones with traction. These kits replace standard differential spider gears with a ratcheting assembly that transfers torque in a reversed fashion from normal differentials.

Since Richmond Gear has recently QUIT making these kits for 19-spline rears, they won't be available for long, but Quadratrac still has them for sale! Not a locker, these install WITHOUT taking the rear axle all apart![:0][^]

Also, check out the Auburn Gear Pro model. Looks to be as good as the Power-Loc and about $370 from most dealers.

If I buy anything for resale, it'll be the Twin Traction unit since that's what I'm accustomed to. If you want a cheaper locker, the Trak Loc is around $325.

To start off a Dana 44 is all the same as far as differentials. Axle shafts change in spline count and length, but the carriers are all the same except for the high pinions. The current spline count on new vehicles is 30, it used to be 19 and early model Jeeps around 1970 used a 10 spline.

The traction assemblies avaialble for 19 spline are air lockers, detroits and auburn limited slip. Auburn limited slips are top of the line and they work as good as the old power locks. If you upgrade to 30 spline axle shafts then you can get any type of locker:cable, electric, full lock, air and clutch. Lock rights, true tracs and trac locks are okay, BUT they don't lock up all the time and they may be cheap but there just not as good as an old power lock or the Auburn limited slip.

I can sell an Auburn LS. for $330.

Not to pick nits, but the open carrier is different from 30 to 19 spline too. The spider gear shoulder is different for the two spline counts. There are 4 basic open carriers 3.90 and up, 19 and 30 spline, and 3.90 down 19 and 30 spline.

JDP Do you know which carriers they have available? < 3.73 or >3.92?

My R3 resto will require some help in the differential area and I'd like to get something for a 3.92+ gearing.

If you can get them for $408. what markup do you need?

The have the 3:92 and up carrier in stocks, but that price does not include the ring and pinion. I think they'll sell you one for $450 or less.

Holy $$$$ JDP! Called the "They" you referred to and "they" quoted me $571.01 PLUS shipping. You must have quite a relationship and sales history with these people. Wouldn't budge on the pricing either. Looks like that buy of all remaining @ $408. would yield a 40% premium.
