the generator was tested by an auto shop and works. I have a new alternator which I polarized correctly. The gauge still shows no charge and a huge swing to the left when the lights or on.


Any ideas on where the problem might be? 6 volt, by the way.

My dad has a 1950 GMC pickup (with generator) that didnt charge until the voltage regulator was re-polarized.
With an alternator, do you need to replace the voltage regulator with a different unit?

I just realized my post sounds quite stupid. If you replace the word, "alternator" with the words, "voltage regulator" it makes more sense.
