  • 53 Truck Radiator

    Hello Everyone,
Well I went and did now. Not only do I have the 50 Land Cruiser but now own a 53 pickup. The tag says Model: R2-C2 I think that means C series cab. Anyway I need a radiator. Does anyone have one or know where I can get one to fit this truck??? Thanks is advance.
    Best Regards,
    chuck

You may want to check on the Studebaker Truck Talk site if you have not already done so. I do not know how quickly you need one, but it sounds like a good excuse to visit the York Swap Meet at the beginning of March. To help everyone else out, Charlie appears to be in Ohio.

I've got a couple of radiators out of 2R16s. They'll fit any 2R truck, but I'm not sure about placement of the outlets. Gary?

        Bigsy,

I think the 2R16 and 17 radiators are larger than those in the pickups so at a minimum you would need the associated frame. I have never checked them side by side to see if there is a difference in outlet diameter or placement. Sounds like a good after school task for Matthew.

Gary, parts book says they share the same frame. I actually knew this already. My point of wonder is if the rad outlets are going to be positioned different than with the smaller 6. Outlet SIZE difference isn't hard to overcome - placement COULD be.[:I]

I have a 1953 truck. Do you still have available the radiators?

            Thanks,
            Phil
