I have a 1962 GT Hawk with a stock electric wiper motor. There appears to be a rattle in the center of the dash. Under the hood, I was able to wiggle the wiper motor. Could this be the rattle and if so how do I tighten up the wiper motor? Is it done under the dash? Would I have to remove the radio? Can it be done under the hood?

Does your hood have the anti-rattle rubber pieces installed correctly on the torque rod?

Thanks Gary. I immediately went outside and checked my hood. I have one torsion bar that stretched from hinge to hinge. However on the bar was a piece of rubber tubing that had been cut lengthwise so that it could be positioned onto the rod. I removed the piece of tubing, cut it in half and repositioned it on the torsion bar where the bar meets two bumps on the cowl just above the wiper motor. The bumps looked like they had been taking some abuse because the paint was chipped off. I will go for a ride and report back.Peter Bishop

might be hardened mounting bushings for the wiper motor, too...
