  • What is this? 55 president dashboard

On the driverside , lowerhalf, there is a green receptacle thing, the other half is a round ,or actually a dome like sphere. That lower half thing is next to the speedometer. That dome half has a spring on the inside, And the dome thing has the broken tabs that would connect to the lower half. The lower half is the diameter of a soda can almost. The car is from new mexico. Any of the studies out there know ? 14x7 You would push this round dome in like a button ( I think )

No sweat: email 'em to me and I'll be happy to post for you [8D]

I'm just imagination-impaired and am having a hard time drawing a picture from your description. [)]

Sorry, Mike - forgot we can't send pics through forum e-mail and left for dinner just after posting.

You can send to me using kalimaikaika(at)gmail.com or I've just sent a friend request via Facebook. Congratulations: you're the one who finally got me to join Facebook (under an alias ) - half the folks in my office have been after me to do this for months.[8D]

Sounds like you're talking about an ash tray! Either that or it's some kind of aftermarket add-on.

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

An aftermarket horn button or an optional ash tray, perhaps the vacuum emptying type, are my guesses based on the description.

I have owned a couple of 1955s and worked on many, but the description doesn't register with me.

If the green thing's squishy, my guess is a horn button.

Nah, CD ROM drive, everyone knows Studebaker was ahead of their time <G>

Yeah, if it's squishy at all I'd guess horn or maybe starter button. What are the wires connected to?

if I had to guess I'd say a mount for one of those big old school compasses. but you'd think the metal of the dash would throw it off...
