    The clock block-off unit had the glass broken, and like the dash panel itself, the checkerboard-finished metal is quite rusty. I never bothered removing it, although I did remove the instrument cluster.

    If you want it, I'll take it out before the car goes to the big garage in the sky, which is scheduled to happen tomorrow.

    I bet it sat in a feild against a fence for a while and things such as wagons and tractors ran into it for years. Just remember it RAN WHEN IT WAS PARKED!!!!!

    It looks like it was hit in front with another car or two, and spun around and hit a tree with the rear quarter! [:0] [B)] Maybe it was a Circle 8 Derby car. [xx(]

    On the return leg of my trip to the International, I stopped off in Wawota, Saskatchewan to pick up this gem of a '56 Commander 4 door parts car. It's W4 trim level.

    Here's the "good" side:

    Here's the right front spring pocket, showing the sort of crack that can occur if a Studebaker is beat to death on rough roads:

    Here's the car with the engine and transmission removed. Afew more parts out, and it's ready to be melted down and made into Kias:

    It may have been a complete wreck, but it yielded up a 259 engine, presumably stuck; a T86 overdrive transmission and all the overdrive components, a Saginaw steering box, repairable front and rear bumpers and about 2/3 of the stainless mouldings, and a model 44 rear axle with 3.92 gears in it. Front brake drums are deeply grooved, and are probably toast. None of the major body parts are worth keeping, and none of the interior. I might save the the dash and speedometer. The radio delete plate has bullet holes in it, as does the radiator. Once I get the few remaining parts off it, it goes back on the trailer for its last road trip.
