  • Cowl seal questions

I'm replacing the rubber cowl (hood) seal on my 1950 Champion. Each end was secured with so-called "nail screws." Should I just pull them out and be rid of them? Can they be replaced? Do they need to be replaced? What else would work? Masonry nails? It looks like you would need something with a small, flat, thin head, so I doubt that screws would work, but maybe I'm wrong. I think its likely that I will destroy the heads trying to remove them. Any advice is appreciated.

SI sells replacement "nail screws". If you want to look like it did when it left the factory, this would be a good way to go. With the good adhesives available today they probably are not necessary. A sheet metal screw would also work. Remove them with a twisting motion.
