    I recently bought a 49 pu from a wrecker the vin # is gone and i was told the engine had been changed. How can I tell what size the engine . the engine # is H235911

    Sounds like a 49 Commander 226. Someone here can tell you for certain.

      Yep, a Commander 226 alright, from 1947. The truck probably had a 245 engine originally. Same basic engine with a longer stroke.
