    That's a good point. I have been greiving over MJ so I have not been thinking of the Studebaker. I had been working on the Champion in my country garage. My manuals are not there, I have them all. I have been working on a friends coupe there. I have a 4dr 41 champion however I have never taken the motor and trans out. This car has mud caked on the bottom and I really can't see anything.Don't be to hard on them this how they act and react. When I built my hawk alot of the people were helpful however some were less than kind.

    I see more and more of these cars wasting away because the people that own them had one bad experience with this forum or at a swap meet. As for me I really don't care if they talk to me or not, it is what it is and if I can't fix it will go to the junk yard. There are other old cars in the country.

    This is not all the Stude people alot of them are really great,inspiring people with lots of knowlege.

    I am not going to continue because I am nt myself today. There is always tomorrow and I will get back to playing with these Studebakers soon enough

    If you have nothing to offer, then why reply. This is a perfect example why new member leave and never come back. Do you own a 1941? If not then sit on your hands next time. It erks me to no end when an honest question is asked and someone slams them with "Buy the manual". You can add all the emotion icons you want. A slam is still a slam. I own a 41 and if I knew the answer it would be offered. My 41 is a custom his is orginal. There is extremely too much of this crap going on here. My post numbers are small but doesn't mean I don't read all the post here. I refrain because of post like yours. Good day and I hope he gets his car fixed.

    Studelover,
    I just finished my engine pull and it seemed easier to pull the transmission before the engine. It is only 4 bolts and makes the hoisting easier. But either way will work. My website might help:

    I am still not quite done with this project after two months so take it slow! The good news is I should be done for the 4th. The bad news is my head gasket might be leaking.

    There is a small rectangular plate with a rubber pad just under the bell housing. Two bolts hold it to the frame, Just remove thsoe two bolts. Don't forget the shift linkages.

    There is a cross-shaft that comes out the left side of the bell housing. This operates the clutch. Remove the rod that runs from the clutch pedal to the arm on the rod. The turnbuckle in the middle of your rod is the clutch adjustment.

    It's all pictured in the parts catalog. You do have one...?

    1941 champion trans

    I want to remove the engine and trans together out of a 1941 champion coupe. I have the front mounts unbolted, what do I need to do to the trans to get it out? Do I remove the cross member? How do I disconect the clutch? The front clip has been removed.
