  • Oil filters and engine numbers

For a 289 in a '62 GT Hawk, what was the cutoff engine number for the partial flow oil filters going to full flow oil filters. I know it was sometime in April 1962.

From the "Writ of Common Wisdom"

"The change took place on or about April 17th at engine number S-248301 for 6's and V-559387 for V8's. "

The car is a 1962 GT Hawk. The Final Assy Date is 2-14-62 and the engine # is P88104, so should the oil filter be Partial Flow or Full Flow?

if it's mounted down low on the pass side of the block, it's full flow. If it's up on the breather stand, it's partial flow.

The 289's (P prefix) got the full flow filter at engine serial number P90826. This is a different block casting. It isn't something that can be added to an earlier block.
