How hard is it to replace the window regulator on my 62 GT Hawk ? I`m gonna have the doors rehung by a body shop and was thinking it would be easier to have them do it to save time. What do you guys think

    Thanks

    Dan

If they never did one before they might take more time than usual, but basically, remove the screws that hold the regulator to the door, then the slider peg clips, raise the window in the channel and duct tape it in a 3/4 high position, pull the slider pegs out of the window rails and rotate the unit out of the door. It's getting it back in and adjusted right, that takes the time, so the new one should be right there, ready for installation, at that point.

Dan, I just did this on my Lark not that long ago and posted step-by-steps and pix on my blog. The link is http://studeblogger.blogspot.com/200...regulated.html. The Hawk will be a little different but the principles are the same. You can probably save an hour or two of shop time charges doing it yourself.

On the other hand, if you don't feel up to it, provide them with the shop manual instructions. If they crack the glass...

I'm thinking I could live for a week on the labor charge to do that. <g>

If it takes them more than an hour, they're probably not qualified to hang the door.

Thanks for the info guys. I think I`m gonna use Showbiz Kid`s directions and try the regulator install my self. Probably won`t be till after the new year.
