I'm removing my 1952 Champ six tonight and the speedo cable won't come out after removing the small bolt and outer hold down clamp. I don't want to damage the unit, so how does it come out? Thanks.

I believe they just had a cork gasket in '52, not an "O" ring. In either case it should just pull out. It's probably just been in there so long it's reluctant. It may help to have the refill pipe plug removed to relieve possible vacuum. Plan on getting a new gasket or "O" ring."All attempts to 'rise above the issue' are simply an excuse to avoid it profitably." --Dick Gregory
