    Roy,
I have an adapter which I made for the race car from "truck" bellhousing to chev saginaw. I wanted to use a stude tranny with overdrive if possible, though I do have an extra saginaw 4 speed.

    Brian,
    We may want to talk....

    what's an injector?.......
Thought I'd use an updraft carb from an old Chris-Kraft!
(more likely another rochester from a turbo-regal).

How about using only three injectors; one for each intake pair, from like a 454?

    Thanks guys,
It is one of those "St. Regis" two door sedans with the minimal trunk and the spare in the trunk.
#5 rod is shot, and since I wanted to pep it up, I'll put in a 245".....and turbocharge it....
Otherwise it will be entirely stock. It would be nice to have the shifter be on the floor and look
    stock.

It's the '38 that has the lay-down transmission.

I have a 2R6 pickup at home that has a 245 engine, and what MIGHT be the bellhousing from a '50 Commander, although it fits the truck crossmember fine. It has a T86 short-tail overdrive transmission, with column shift, and the tranny has bevel-cut first and reverse gear in it, which tells me it's a car transmission. Input shaft looks like the one in T86 transmissions for V8 car use.

So, to answer Greg's question, I THINK you can use any short or long-tail T86 with the 245, unless it has an oddball bellhousing. The 245 in my truck has a diaphragm clutch, which is fastened to the flywheel by 9 (count 'em) bolts. It IS a truck part, apparently also fits '40 President.

Doesn't a '37 use the T-86 laid on its side? I think that a guy at York had one like that for sale, don't remember his name though. Prices seemed reasonable as I recall. Was in the first building back by the concession counter.

Tell us about the 37. Is it a sedan, coupe, etc? I love the Pre-war 32's & up. I have been toying with the idea of trying to find someone with a pre-war who would like to have a classic post war bullet nose like my 51 land cruiser. I think a fair trade would be easier to slide by my wife's radar than a purchase! Good luck with your project!

    Overdrive transmission on 246"

I have a 37'Dictator with a bad engine. Want to put in a 246" from 49' 1 ton truck. Want to use existing rear-end. Is there an overdrive tranny that will bolt on this bellhousing with reasonable ratios for a car? Or, does the transmission bolt pattern on the big six truck remain the same as the one on the truck with the smaller 169"? I made an adapter to match a chev tranny for that (raced it on the Salt2Salt car).
    Thanks
