OK, I am not good with numbers or charts. In the early 90's, I bought a complete engine for my coupe while at the York swap meet. When I got home, All I did was put the 'front oil sump '48 oil pan on, distributor, manifold, and carb and I was in business. After all these years, I finally got around to looking at the serial number on the block. It is 1009990. Any of you number Gurusknow what it is?

My guess is '53 Champion, when it gets into the millions, 7 digits, I get lost too! [B)]
I wrote the number on a small note paper and matched it up to the list, and that's what I got. [:0]StudeRich

Thanks Rich! So I guess that makes it a 170? I had planned on rebuilding the engine I removed, but I was able to buy this one for a couple of hundred less than the parts would have cost for the rebuild. Another big factor was the competence of the mechanic doing the work. I only see him when I look in the mirror.
