  • Hawk Carpet

I am looking for new carpet for my 59 Hawk. There are lots of vendors out there. Anyone have a good experience with a carpet vendor?

Very nice Driver quality: JDP- Historic Automotive
OEM - Show correct/quality- Phantom Autoworks.

Personal experience (a lot) with BOTH... they each have their niche..

Ray hit the nail on the head. If you are going to use the car as a daily driver during the nice minths then Historic by JP is the way to go. However, if your intent is a show car with little use and the desire for trophies, go with Phantom. I have JP's in my car now, but we really abused them. I have a new set of Phantom's ready to go in once some other issues are settled. Either way, you cannot go wrong, both look great in the car.

...or check your TW. JP runs a display ad every month with his web address there.

Go with JP's, as I have found a serious error with Phantom's carpeting.

This applies to 56 Golden Hawks, and might also encompass other models. Check your Body Parts catalog or Service manual for your car to find out what color the heel pad should be.

The rubber heel pad on 56's is supposed to be the same color as the carpeting, JP's is, Phantom uses a black heel pad, totally wrong if your going for show. Problem is that the black heel pad really sticks out like a sore thumb.

I received my carpet from JDP. Looks pretty good.

My old capet and the new do not have a cutout for the floor heater coil. Seems the hot air will just blow under the carpet. Should there be an opening in the carpet for the heater?

                        thanks

You are supposed to trim around the floor heater of installed.
