  • 61 lark radio again

I have my 61 radio in my Lark. What do I add to stop interference/noises when the car is running? Thanks

You can start with a condenser on the generator. Make sure your plug wires aren't leaking (easy to check at night when its real dark) & make sure the plug wires are a shielded or suppression type.

    60 Lark convertible
    61 Champ
    62 Daytona convertible
    63 G.T. R-2,4 speed
    63 Avanti (2)
    66 Daytona Sport Sedan
    59 Lark wagon, now V-8, H.D. auto!
    60 Lark convertible V-8 auto
    61 Champ 1/2 ton 4 speed
    62 Champ 3/4 ton 5 speed o/drive
    62 Champ 3/4 ton auto
    62 Daytona convertible V-8 4 speed & 62 Cruiser, auto.
    63 G.T. Hawk R-2,4 speed
    63 Avanti (2) R-1 auto
    64 Zip Van
    66 Daytona Sport Sedan(327)V-8 4 speed
    66 Cruiser V-8 auto

      Dave,

Are you refering to the condenser that is on the voltage regulator, or are you talking about adding another one?

IIRC....there were 2 condensers found on the generator and coil...I've even seen them grounded on the regulator on Chrysler-type regulators....

Did you add an aftermarket Oil Press. gauge to your '61 Lark?
If it has metallic tubing to the engine like the Studebaker setup, it requires a ground strap to prevent radio static. Studebaker even grounded (with copper strap) the hood to body, to help that.

Where does the condensor on the generator go? Thanks.

David....I don't remember what the condenser on the generator has for contacts...I now only have an alternator equipped car.

On the "ARMATURE" terminal, the Gen. Tag says: "Do not connect radio condensor to this Field Terminal."
