  • Shocks: Shocks for '64 Champ 1/2 ton

Looking to replace front and rear shocks on my Champ in preparation for the drive to the International Meet. I would prefer gas front with gas load-levelers in rear. I can't get a number off the load-levelers currently on the truck. Number and make would be appreciated.

Try searching for shocks for 1960's Ford Econoline Trucks, same as Stude.

      Thanks StudeRich
I had an interchange for '55 Ford F-100 for the rear load-levelers and some Willys. Still looking for numbers.

I have seen a listing to use a Jeep shock Monroe 34905 which is a magnum truck shock, there is also a load leveler by Gabriel load leveller 43048 that is available, they appear to come in pairs. I have not installed these, but will be putting them on my 1961 Champ 3/4 when I get further on the project. I did install the Nissan Frontier 2WD rear shocks on my 1957 Transtar 3/4 ton. They worked fine.

Thank you GCurtis. I found a 43058 listed some where. I will check both. Good luck with your '61.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!! I wound up using Monroe 34905 shocks on the front and found NAPA 58577 load adjusting shocks for the rear. They seemed to work quite well with a load in the bed without bottoming.

Cool, thanks for reporting back the positive update. Glad that worked out.

I'm a little late on seeing this, but I used Monroe 31000's on my '61 1/2-ton Champ a few years back and they seem to work perfectly fine. Here is a thread I posted over on the Truck Talk site about it for others that may be reading it down the road. There is also some good into on the mounting bolts too.

While I'm replacing the front tires on the Champ, I figure the shocks on the truck are at best about 30 years old, if not original NOS, and don't seem

Sounds like those 34905's are a good option too, I'll keep that in mind myself next go around.
