Is there,or was there a accessory for raising and lowering the spare tire for a studebaker pickup.

I have seen GM Pickups, GMC & Chev. with a long handle crank to raise and lower the spare, maybe that is where it came from.
All my Stude pickups have a Bar and 2 long Bolts to bolt the tire and wheel up under the bed.
If there were accessories like that back then, I never saw one.StudeRich

Ok, this must be a home made tire lift.the bar on the left swings out and the cable retracks under the bed international lowering the spare tire. Kinda of noval.

I'm not sure if this would fit/work on your Stude pickup, but I have a '51 ford F1 that I removed the standard tire hanger on - because my spare was too wide to fit, and I installed a standard cable lift type of hanger.
The photo is for a new one on Amazon - $35. The one I have has a flat slot in the crank end instead of the square lug. With that you use the flat tip end of your lug wrench to turn a crank and it raises and lowers the tire to the ground.
You'll just need to find something to bolt it to. I have a custom hitch and bolted it to the cross bar.

What Rich said. The answer to the original question is no. Lie on your back, loosen the nut holding the beam in place, slide the J bolt a bit with one hand while the other hand/arm holds it up, and lower it down. Good for the (one) bicep.Skip LackieComment
