  • another steering wheel question....

yep, used the search function... there is a lot of stuff out there...

hit the local parts yard this week and fell in love with a steering wheel off an old ford... '58 I think... but at any rate... it of course will not fit on my '52... (I knew this but I still bought it...)
the size is right (18 inches), the color is right, the condition is near perfect... but the center hole of course, is to small for my spline...

so I am thinking, if I really want to use this wheel...

should I have it machined? basically bored out to the size and fit of my spline, or graft a smaller spline onto my steering post?

    any other ideas out there?

My $.02 worth-I would have it bored and splined to match the Studebaker steering post. That way, if you or someone else decided later to put a Studebaker wheel back on it, it would be easier to do.

He's right... DO NOT CHANGE THE SHAFT!!!
I've been around folks that did things like that and really regretted it later!
