  • Lock Removal?

I am trying to remove the lock from the trunk handle on my 48 Champion. I am using the shop manual but I can not get the lock to come out. Help Please!!!

To remove the lock cylinder from the lock housing, you must have the correct key in the lock, then put a small wire like a paper clip, into the very small hole to release the Cyl.

If you do not have the correct key, if you have any short 4 tumbler trunk/glove compartment keys for other Studes. usually on about the fourth key I can open them, so if the lock turns, it's good enough to use for removal.

If all else fails and you have a new replacement, just drill the tumblers out, until it comes out.

I have the correct key and I am doing as you said and the lock will not come out. I have soaked it good with P-B Blaster. I am trying to save the lock to put in a better handle. Also I would like to keep the lock because the key also works on the glove box door. Thanks!
