I am going though the prosses of cleaning and repainting a 63 champ pick up engine bay i am disconnecting andd the wires to i can get them out of the way. i seem i have a wire running from the main harness from the fire wall down to the steering box what is that wire for?

Probably that is the wire from the horn relay that is grounded to make the horns work.

By the way, if you ever are going to re-wire the truck, use that wire for a puller... don't just yank it out (ask me how I know!)
