I'm installing the transmission shifting components and I'm not clear on the operation of the shift control box on the top of the steering column. In a forum search I find information on adjusting the length of the shift rods using Gage No. J-1308. This is not what I'm looking for. Moving the shift lever at the steering wheel doesn't move the control box levers in a correct manner, weather in the lower or upper position. Basically, I'm unable to shift transmission gears from inside the car. Any input would be appreciated.

Is it possible that the rods going to the transmission are reversed/swapped?
How about looking at your starlight coupe and comparing the shifting system to the business coupe you are working on?RadioRoy, specializing in AM/FM conversions with auxiliary inputs for iPod/satellite/CD player. In the old car radio business since 1985.
