The front cable for my emergency brake on my '55 E7 is frayed and about to break. The parts catalog says the complete assembly (housing and cable) is part #6884404. Stephen Allen's Studebaker further breaks them out individually as part numbers 1688790 and 1688355. I cannot find the complete cable assembly (or either one individually) on Stephen Allen's or Studebaker International's websites. If you know of where I can get one/these, please pass it along. Appreciated.

The original part numbers for your brake cables were 684404 (front) and either 674292 or 684546x1 (rear), depending on serial number. The front 684404 cable was superseded by 1688790 and 1688355 in 1957. Part number 1688790 is listed as the cable, but the parts book does not explain what the number 1688355 is, though they are listed as a replacement assembly for 684404. Sometimes the web site data haven't been updated. It might be worth it to call them.Skip Lackie
