Eddie, this sounds really "out there", like nothing anyone has ever done, so I am sure we all would love to see what it looks like. If you could do pics when it's done, that would be great! [^]

not entirely pertinent but in my '55 coupe, I rerouted the heater hose because of an aftermarket compressor mount. I had to use a special right angle fitting for the heater hose to attach to the plate in the back of the head because a regular pipe nipple, elbow, and hose barb would have hit the firewall. There really is not a whole lot of room back there!

BTW our own Jerry Forrester provided the fitting. Thanks Jerry!

    Yeah, it sure does. THANX![8D]

I'm plumbing external oil drain/vent lines out the rear of the heads (vent line only at the front), and since there's very little clearance at the rear I'm going to pipe the silly things using brass tees, 1/4" MNPT on the bull into the head, 3/8" IFF on the drain and vent lines with 3/8" steel "brake" tube for the pipe runs.

Using a union fitting will place all the piping very close to the block. Painted '55 "Alberta Blue" engine color, snugged up against the block at the rear...heh-heh, the lines should be very close to invisible.[}]

I was halfway considering plumbing them using full-flow AN large- radius tube-type 90's with aluminum AN tubing but I think I'd run out of clearance room (not to mention dinero[B)]).

Passenger side, mabe 1-2 inches max. Drivers side, more clearance, but the temperature guage sending unit is in the way also. Hope this helps.

    Lark VIII Firewall Clearance?

With the Stude V-8 mounted in its stock position, how much clearance distance is there between the back of each head directly and the firewall?

    Thanks,

    Eddie
