Cool/Heat: 259 core plugs (freeze plugs)

Hi all, after 7 years driving my rod and having fun I now have a leaking freeze plug. They are all fairly easy to access so I'm replacing them all. They are the disc type and are available in steel or brass. The question I have is can I replace the steel with brass ? If so are they a better option? Would you use any type of sealant when putting them in?

I prefer brass as they will not rust through. I suppose because of the different metals there could be some galvanic activity.
