Not bring snippy, but what’s the advantage? Simply saving weight, clearance issues, or improved performance?

There a number of things. Have you ever driven your Stude hot and come back in a short while and it won't start till it cooled down. I am happy when I hit the starter of one of my Avanti's and they turn over like I wished they would. If you run R3 headers you can clock the starter to clear. With the Hitachi starter you can go to any distributor and pick up a starter for $85 and remove the 2 long bolts and put your Stude parts on it. You can hold the starter out straight from your shoulder with 2 fingers. I could go on and on about how happy I am that I found this.

Thank's skyway....just the info I have been looking for! Any specific Hitachi number "stronger" (power wise for torque) that you are aware of ?

I believe Phil Harris at Fairborn Studebaker sells a "mini" starter for our Studes. I plan to call him this coming week for a few things and this starter is on he list.

I've reached out to Fairborn a few times and it seems they are not available through him.

626-945-0095 Robert ? I talked to him on this number today. Price is now $250 and it is a 178 which is a Hitachi long reach.

I talked to Phil this afternoon and he is still waiting for his supply of these starters to get to him. As I'm not in a hurry for it, he will put one aside for me when they get to him.
