Clutch pedal sticking 3/4 of the way up

  • Clutch / Torque Converter: Clutch pedal sticking 3/4 of the way up

    On my '64 Daytona 4-speed, the clutch pedal is sticking about 3/4 of the way up. Sometimes it will quickly return on its own after a second or two, or if not a slight nudge with the toe behind the pedal makes it jump back up to the fully disengaged position. Otherwise, the clutch feels normal. I'm hoping it's just something that needs to be lubed, but not sure where to start. Any ideas appreciated!

    Some clutch pedals have a double acting spring , it assists to disengage and also assists to engage maybe yours is missing. This makes the clutch pedal reasonably soft in both directions.

      As Post # 2 say's it is the double acting, assist/return Spring under the dash, weak, missing or out of adjustment.

        You'll find that if you adjust your clutch to have just a tad less free play your pedal will return properly. An inch or so would be fine. The clutch itself has to push the pedal up to where the over-center spring snaps the pedal up to its stop. Just did this very thing yesterday afternoon to solve the very same problem--on a Champ.
