After removing these so I could take the rearend out of my Champion, I noticed the shackles on the driver's side were taller than the passenger side. Was this done from the factory or someone's shoddy repair?

The shackles should be the same length. Studebaker mounted them in different holes in the frame on the driver's side supposedly to compensate for the driver's weight which would make the driver's side shackle appear longer (taller).quote:Originally posted by uasrs

This is factory on many years, although I'm not certain about '47. If the car sits nice and level now, you probably should leave them as is.
