Exhaust Paint

I've been going thru all the posts on engine detailing and researching high temp exhaust paints (it looks like VHT is one of the better paints).

Mine is one of the rare 1957 289's that was painted silver. Would the flat aluminum VHT be passable on the exhaust manifold, or does any have a suggestion for a more silvery high heat paint?

Eastwood has a stainless colored exhaust coating that works well.

Have em' powder coated. They can do it in the color you pick. It's suppose to be heat resistant. Hope this helps.

I just purchased Eastwood's spray-on STAINLESS STEEL paint. I read about it in a HEMMINGS CLASSIC CAR story. After I had both manifolds painted, I discovered I needed to remove a stud. I ended up using my torch and had the manifold red hot trying to get the stud out. After I had it removed and the manifold cooled... you could not see any damage or flaking of the paint. It looked the same as it did when sprayed on. It is close to a cast-iron grey color.
I think it is a winner.

I've used Eastwood's Hi Temp Factory Gray and it not only looks good -- like cast iron -- it isn't affected at all by heat.
