  • Transmission / Overdrive: Hurst "T" handle adaptor

So the shifter arm end in my Avanti is 5/16 X 18. The T handle Hurst is 3/8 X16 I can not find adapters that will allow its use Any suggestions?

You could put a Heli-coil in the knob or a Keensert or the like. Or drill it out and glue in an "all thread" coupler with JB Weld. I've done all three many times. I've made shifter knobs from all sorts of things this way.

I should think it will. You may need to add a washer or two under the shift handle to get it clocked in the position you like but not a bad solution.

Here is another avenue...since I have no idea of the thread/size this may or may not help. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/g...2009?rrec=true

So I guess I should p/u some 3/8 washers to slip over the 3/8 end of the adapter?

IIRC there is a circular cutout/depression on the bottom of the handle where the shifter threads in. I'd buy a few washers with that OD or slightly smaller and drill them out to 3/8" if necessary to position the handle.

Wow!.......speaking of straws...............anybody here remember "Chocolate Cow" straws? Just stick the straw in a glass of milk and have a ready to drink chocolate drink! It's "refreshing" attempting to explain to today's youth about things from "back-n-da-day"
