  • Engine: Oil filter canister lines

51 Landcruiser, took it apart four years ago, didn’t notate this…….oil lines from filter canister: side to where? Bottom line to where? I did have the line with the restrictor fitting from the side of the fuel pump to the cylinder head fitting tagged.

There should be a 3 way "T" (or factory "Stacked" 1 In, 2 Out Fitting) on the head for the Filter Line and the Fuel Pump Lube, also somewhere you need another Approx. .040 restricted Fitting in the Line to the SIDE of the Filter; which IS the Input to the F4 Fram. Look for it.

It SHOULD be obvious that the remaining Line has to go into the Oil Filler Pipe to return the Oil.

The drivers side head has a TWO line stacked fitting. It was the same on my 53 Commander 232 but I sold the 53 a few months ago and don’t have it for comparison. The fitting in the side of the filter IS also restricted about .040

I still need to know where the line goes from the side of the filter and from the bottom of the filter. Thanks!!

The opening at the side of the filter is the filter input. That line gets the restriction somewhere. It comes from the engine's pressurized oil gallery.

The opening at the bottom of the filter is the clean oil output and it usually goes to somewhere around where you put oil in the engine, so the clean oil can run into the crankcase.
