The one wire system works, but you most likely will have to kick the rpm up initially to get it charging. If you connect the T1 wire under the dash where the main splice is, the internal regulator will sense a voltage/amperage drop more accurately and will start charging right away. You don't need the T2 wire at all. It's only required if you have an idiot light.
