  • Brakes: hill holder bleeding

folks ...... is there a best practice / method to bleed the hill holder

  • #2
Back when I had one, I would bleed it first--and it is a pain to get to the bleeder--and messy. Then go on to right rear, left rear, right front and left front. Once again I say, things that you do once in other makes requires that you do it 4 times with a Studebaker. (In the bay area, a hillholder would be a necessity!)

Yes - The "bleed screw" is in an awkward place (see the shop manual) - Do not get on your face, esp. eyes - can be nasty stuff)

My '41 Hill Holder does not even have a bleed screw. When I had to do master cylinder work I bench-bled the Hill Holder and master cylinder as a unit. That seemed to work pretty well.
