Can anyone tell me where this plate goes. Found it in my toolbox but can't remember where it was. 53 commander coupe. Didn't see it on google but think it goes on the firewall somewhere

Look for two holes at the upper side of the passenger firewall, in the engine compartment.

Two rather large Philips screws will affix it there.

I agree and will add;
1) it should be either 4H-C3 or 4H-C5,
2) it should be painted the main body color (same as firewall).

This is the plate. I must have filled the holes. From your picture it looks like it goes on the upper ledge close to the low spot by the hinge.

Not easiest but most accurate to look up from the interior side of the firewall and punch back through the two OEM holes?

I will additionally add that the screws should also (as well as the plate) be painted the same color as the firewall.

Yes; and they were attached before the tub was painted. If you remove them, there should be primer underneath.

If you remove them there is no paint at all underneath; it is either bare metal or rust. I always remove them and paint them separately .
