  • Wheels / Tires: Which years? - 15X6 Budd wheels...

Family member has a set of wheels that came off a 2R5.

Inside two of them there is a clear Budd stamping. Shows they are 15 X 6 in size.

All four wheels are 6 inches wide, but only one has the hub cap clips riveted in the rim (not in the photo below).

Am I correct in thinking these could be late '40s/1950 Commander wheels?

    Thanks ahead.

    They sure look like it.

The riveted type hub cap clips were replaced by the removable type clips somewhere in the 1949 production run. 1950 wheel covers will not fit the wheel if the hub cap clips are still in place. Hence the removable clips.

The Red Wheel with the removable Hub Cap Clips could probably work on 1/2 Tons up to 1964, but what I don't get is the 6 Inch width, I THOUGHT newer Trucks were about 5.

Are they not dated somewhere (sometimes very faintly)? The half-ton truck wheels were either 4.5x16" or 5x15".

The 1950 Commander cars had wheels this size.

No date codes that I could make out - thanks for the help.

              Patrick,

What is he intending to do with them, and are they straight?

They belong to Ronny and he has said he wants to hold on to them. I guess you are still trying to locate truck wheels - best of luck
