Update! After knowing where the hole is, I found a bundle of 5 unused wires that would either be used in the two pole standard shift switch (black/white-black) or the switch used in the automatic cars with integral neutral safety switch. Thanks Studebaker for using one wiring harness regardless of how the car was equipped. I ran two wires from the switch on the T5 through the floor and connected them to the factory wires. When you have the schematic and know where the switch would be located, it was pretty easy
    Thanks guys

I am guessing that with No Automatic Trans. and NO Backup Lights this Car originally would have No need of a B/U Lt. Sw.

So you will probably find only a Hole in the Steering Post Jacket on the Right Side just below where the Column meets the face of the Dash where the Switch goes for a Column Shift when needed.

The only thing of use would be the wires, the Neutral Switch Wires are usually plugged together and there may or may not be Power for B/U Lts. but it's a long way to the Floor Shift 5 speed Trans. Modification.

Got it. The wiring diagram shows both, but I misread. It is either/or. Still need to know the location of the backup light switch.
    Thanks

Standard transmission cars usually do not have a neutral safety switch.

started a topic Electrical: backup light/ neutral safety switch location

backup light/ neutral safety switch location

1962 Lark wagon standard shift. I have looked at the wiring diagram and pretty well understand how the backup lights are wired but I cannot locate the backup light switch. The backup light switch and the neutral safety switch may be incorporated into a single unit. I have installed a T5 transmission with an integral backup light switch. I can wire it in but wanted to see if I can utilize part of the factory setup. My wagon did not come with the lights, but I have now installed them. The harness is prewired for backup lights (white wire with black stripe). Any help locating this/these switches would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you
