  • Fuel System: High Quality Gas Cap (?)

Hi all. My 64 Hawk has a standard parts store locking gas cap. It works but it’s a pain.

I’m looking for a high quality cap or capping system that works well. I’d prefer all metal. Maybe a flush system? Open to locking or not.

    Thoughts/suggestions?

Barring something totally Custom, "Stant" has always made the Best OEM and Replacement Locking & Non-Locking Gas Caps.

If you want an Electric one I do not know what you should buy.

Yikes, many Studebaker owners would balk at paying $3.50 for a gas cap, say nothing about a $360.00 gas cap.

That's ridiculous. Why not contact the Studebaker vendors and see what they have?

I have looked at what all the Stude vendors had and I was hoping for something a bit nicer. I have ordered the Stant cap ($9) and I’ll see if that fits the bill.

Make sure that what you ordered is vented. If not the fuel pump will pull a vacuum on the tank. The cap that you were looking at would look nice on an exposed fuel tank.

Try Summit racing equipment for customizer type caps.

I spent over $2,900.00 to get my tach working but I draw the line at $360.00 for a gas cap.

That one is for six cylinders. You are gonna have to pay a bit more for the V8 compatible one. LOL

I am very pro locking gas cap since a fellow tenant at the apartments we stayed in while in flight surgeon school found sugar under the filler of his car. Our Buick got an immediate Stant locking gas cap. He had to have his car towed and the tank drained and flushed.
