  • Fuel System: Carter Carburetor Accelerator Pump Issues

Picked up from the Willys Jeep guys that the accelerator pumps that are in the current carb rebuild kits made overseas, some of which are shared with Studebaker "Carter" carbs from the 40's and 50's, are no good and they are advising folks to look for those in older USA made kits or NOS ones. Has anyone had problems with these in Studebaker carb kits?

I am pretty sure those Carbs. used on Willys are the YF Carters used on a LOT of Ford Sixes as replacements for the Ford or Holley POC that were original.

It would have to be a very Old Stude. if any ever used a YF, all Post War ONE Barrels are AS or RBS Carter, although like on Fords those probably COULD be used as replacements.

It is clear MORE research is required on "AS" Carter Repair Kits.

        Gary,

Some post war Jeeps used Carter W-O's very similar to the W-O's used on the 1939 & 40 Studebaker Champions. The both used the same Carter 64-62s (stamped 49-121) accelerator pump.
