  • Body: Putting a GT fender onto a '53 coupe.

Modifying a '62 GT front fender for a '53 that's been modified for a reverse hinged hood.
This little job took me only 3 days.
At 77 I don't work nearly as fast as I used to.

First, remove everything off the GT fender that's not needed. Sorry 'bout the blurred pic.

Then cut the part off the '53 fender that's needed for the replacement fender.

Then weld it all back together.

It would be nice if the pictures were showing. Your workmanship deserves to be seen.

I don't know what the problem is. They're showing on both my cell phones. I checked on my computer, they were not showing, but then I signed in and they popped up. Strange days.

Weird, I'm only getting question marks. Don't suppose you have any more front fenders for a 62? My right front has a "whiskey dent."

I loaded those pictures straight from my phone.
I'm going to erase them and load them from Imgur.
BTW, they are not showing up on my computer this morning either.

Great! Now they're doubled. And I don't know which ones to try to remove.

I can't be the only one thinking this: why do you want GT fenders on a 53 Coupe?

Because I have a GT fender that's almost rust free. And a '53 fender that's verrrry rusty. I have more time than money and the GT and '53 fenders are basically the same (except where the radiator cradle is attached) so I thought I'd adapt the GT fender.
Now that the modification is almost done I can start filling all those molding holes.

When you put it together, would you show some pictures of the cool hood reverse opening modification, please?

That is a really sweet setup.

I have a parts 62 GT with RF fender still attached. I will check condition this morning.

62 fender appears to be in good condition. Getting it to you could be expensive. Can you find one closer to you? How about taking the dent out of the one you have?
