  • New Edlebrock

Just finished puttng a new Edelbrock Carburetor on my daughter's 62 Hawk. Boy, talk about an improvement over the old Carter WCFB!!!!!! Before, the car was burning rich on the right side and I couldn't adjust it out. It sounded liked it was only hitting on 4 cylinders at a stop light. Added bonus, it starts right up now too!! I'm convinced!!! If you are having problems with the Carter... switch to the Edelbrock, its not difficult and the improvement is very worth it!!

Thanks, in my excitement I forgot to mention which one I used!! The model is the Performer 1403, which is a 500 CFM carburetor with the electric choke. I used a Mr. Gasket 9" air cleaner. I would like to modify the old air cleaner used with the Carter. If anyone knows how to do that, I would appreciate any tips.

        Sent Jim Turner an e-mail.
He modified his stock air cleaner to accept an AFB.

I made an aluminum one for Rick Coutiers' truck a few years ago.
It's still on there (I think)...

I bought a Mr Gasket air cleaner assembly #1487 and the bottom section fits excactly into the bottom of the Stude air cleaner. It should be pretty easy to finish-just want to make sure the clearance is right.
