  • Body / Glass: Body: "51 cowl weatherstrip replacement.

I'm replaceing the cowl weatherstrip and wanted to know if that piece butts up against the ledge where the wipers sit, or is that piece slightly offset from that ledge. Thank you.

On our '51, the seal is about 1/8" back from the front of the shelf. Our car has never had this seal removed. Because the car is in a dark garage, the pictures did not work. If you want pictures, the car is coming out this week for her decennial buff and shine and we'll grab some.

It has to FIT on the Cowl under the Rear Edge of the Hood, there should be traces of the Old Glue used to hold the original one down, and the "Screw Nails" used to hold the ends down.

Thank you both. A picture would help so as not to make a mess of it.

Under the edge of the hood; barely visible to the eye. Think of the space between it and the cowl top surface as a gutter, channeling water away from the firewall.
This is in a K body; but same application.

Those of you who have replaced the cowl weatherstrip piece, did you nail the two corners to the body as in the original? Thank you.

Yes; and you will want to as well. If you have lost the screw nails, they are readily available from our vendors.
