  • Body / Glass: new rubber gaskets -weatherstripping

Some of you more experienced folks out there. Tell me what's the best way to clean up and treat the new rubber gaskets like trunk, doors, etc. I see a lot of stuff advertised.

Scrub them clean. They have mould-release on them to keep them from sticking during the manufacturing process. This should be removed to help the weatherstrip adhesive bond to the rubber.

I've always given them a quick wipe with lacquer thinner. A VERY quick wipe. But DuPont's Final Klean would probably be safer, and just as quick.
