  • Vinyl Dye on door cards

Yes, my understanding is that my ‘62 Champ door panels may have intentionally been the pink-silver-black “tri-tone” as seen in the first picture, they look ridiculous in an otherwise Desert Tan scheme.

Having used the DupliColor vinyl dye spray in a 1965 Thunderbird, I felt very confident in what these hi-bonding paints can do. I chose a VHT “Buckskin” shade and am so thrilled with the result.

Prep was simple: two wipes with rubbing alcohol and paper towel. No bristle brushes, etc as these were already very clean. The isopropanol removes any oils and silicones (ArmorAll, etc).

Two independent light coats to prime and then a final medium coat. Best $7 I’ve spent in a while...

Looks really good. Love it when a plan comes together!
