  • Fuel System: New WCFB updates for new gas

I bought a NOS WCFB at Hershey that should fit my 56 President 289. It is a 2219SA. I have a gas station with non ethanol gas right down the street and that's what I normally run on my old cars. I'm not building a race car, just a driver. Is there anything I should do to it before I use it? Is there anything inside that will get eaten by ethanol in case I'm forced to use it?

It of course, should have the gaskets renewed because of age. It probably has all metal needle and seats, which is good, and a leather accelerator pump skirt, which, in my experience
is unaffected by alcohol. It is made from the hide of the almost extinct magenta caribou. I run mine all summer on the ethanol gas, then fill it with real gas and some Stabil or equivalent for winter storage.

      Good for you.
I didn't know that there were still NOS WCFBs around. I sold my last one decades ago for $20.
The gaskets may be bad due to age.

The new kit I bought had one of them magenta pumps. I think the Magenta Caribu are only in St, Louis, hanging out near the old Carter plant.
