Just installed the dual chamber MC on the champ and would like to find out what you guys do to upgrade or improve the drum brakes on these trucks?

I upgraded my 61 Champ to front disc's & the difference is incredible! I can't help you though on where they came from since I got mine at the La Palma swap meet a few years ago, but whatever they cost, they are well worth the money!

Based on my '41 Commander, entire late model V-8 brakes should fit.

You rotate the backing plate until 4 of the 6 bolt holes line up with the holes in the steering knuckle, then use the knuckle as a stencil to drill the other 2.

You get the benefit of the later style brakes and you can even keep the original drums if you want to preserve the stock lug pattern.

I have the 63 champ brake setup on my 62 champ.I had the hubs
machined so chevy drums fit right on.I also installed a Hydravac
power booster.I bought the 63 backing plates from Vern Ediger
              in Kansas.

Yeah, the 8E series (63-64 Champ) 1/2ton brakes WERE a factory upgrade if you can find one as a donor. They ARE, in effect, later Stude V8 car brakes. They're self-energizing which makes them a big improvement over the 7E and earlier, 1/2ton truck brakes

                1963 Cruiser

                1953 Commander coupe
                1957 President two door

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.
