Yeah - the '50 gas tank I've got waiting for a new home.

I have a friend in the Kaiser Club who had a tank made. I think I could get the address of the 'maker'if you want me to work on that project.

I am not a Studebaker expert but when I was looking for parts for my business coupe I found a wrecked 48 sedan to get parts off of it. The spare stood up and mine laid down. When Newman & Altman had there big swap meet in South Bend I started asking what was the deal. I talked to 2 workers that had worked at Studebaker after the war until they closed. They said there was 2 different 48 Studebakers early and late. Any 48 built after April 48 had upright spares and different frame braces and I talked to Classic Enterprises and they said the same thing.

OK, that eliminates the pre-49 tanks.

'47 & '48 spare tires were stored flat on floor. Gas tanks are different than later cars, as is rear frame section.

Having replaced a tank in my 55 President sedan recently, I'd guess that any sedan tank between 47 and 55 should fit. The tank I put in, (don't know what it came from) was old enough to have a gear drive gauge.

There don't seem to be any other possibilities, no modern tanks will do.
