Need Hawk part number or even part

I am trying to fix the hood latch bracket on my R1 Hawk and have all the parts but one. The part shown below, it is an L shaped bracket that holds the release cable. I cannot find the part in the parts book and the illustration does not show it either. I talked to the Studebaker West guys and they do not think the part number is in the book either. So I need the part or the part number so I can try to look it up. Anyone know?

Dan it WOULD be on Pg.463 Group 1622 Fenders, Hood, Misc. Sheet metal in the '59-'64 Chassis Parts Catalog.

It WOULD BE following the 1622-65 1360985 Plate Assy. -Hood Lock for '64K right, before the 4 screws and speed nuts under which the Cable Bracket goes! [:0]

Carl at Studebakers West is correct, it just is not there!

OR, does that Assy. consist of more than just the lever, plate and spring? Maybe it INCLUDES the Bracket as a kit!

It is interesting that the '64K does not even get the same plate as the very similar '63K!

That leaves you with having to buy it ON SIGHT or description only!

If we tried to dig the blueprint out of the Museum Archives, we'd be stuck without the part number! [xx(] [V]

Getting a used one from a parts car is your best bet. It is pretty unusual that a part is simply not shown! [:0]

Possibly your very best plan is to remove that one you have from one of the cars, and make drawings from it to have the bracket made, as it would be easy to make.

Okay, here's a thought: the latch plate assembly had a different part number for 64 versus 63 so something changed. Is it possible that the addition of the bracket is the reason for the different part number and it's not actually a seperate piece?

I recently bought a NOS latch plate and have pictures of another one and this bracket is not included.

I just checked a Hawk lower valance with the hood latch intact, and it has the solid bar for the release. I thought for sure it had the bracket you are looking for. The other lower valances I have are all the early style.

I can't help you with a part number... but thanks for posting the photo... now I know what that bracket is for...from my last batch of plating. sorry- no extras... but I can make one easy enough, or provide you a pattern, measurements, photo etc...

Here's the one I have:
A= 1.25" (length of mount)
B= 1.35" (width of mount to center of bend)
C= .40" (top of mount to bottom of tang)
D= .88" (width of tang to center of bend)
E= 2.40" (total length of mount + tang)
F= 1.00" (height of tang)
G= 2.25" (total width of tang)
H= .50" (diameter)
I= .75" (to center of screw-hole)
**EDIT- the steel is .095" thick

Studeman thanks for the pictures and dimensions. Dennis at SASCO sent me an email that it is indeed not in the parts book but he did find it on the drawings as part #1351373, but did not have any!

Unfortunately that number doesn't show up anywhere. Not in any of the price lists either. I've been hoping to prove, or disprove, with no luck yet, that this part was actually used first on the side of some transmissions as a bracket to support the end of the overdrive cable.

Not sure how much interest there is, but there is some. Perhaps Classic Enterprises would be interested in making a run of these? Would not hurt to ask? How many out there would like to have one?

Thanks Jeff and also Tom for finding this part. I would have never dreamed this part was so difficult to find! Tom's bus is really a magic bus and if you have never had the opportunity you should do so where ever Tom parks it.
