  • Trim questions?

I want to replace my gas gauge in the Hawk. The gauge pegs on full all the time. A friend has a good one in a parts car I can have. His gauge has a very rusty face and mine is very clean. Has any one here been successful in removing the trim ring and replacing it on the small gauges?
I am thinking of removing the roof trim, from the parts car, for the gutter for my car. It did not come with the trim.
Any good advice will be appreciated.

It is difficult, but not impossible, to remove the rain gutter stainless trim and reinstall it without damaging it.
Pry up carefully and evenly from the bottom of the trim. Some say to use a can opener, but I think that this leads to marks (maybe tape off the pry area).

I've never changed the bezels but on the operation of the gauge make sure the red/black wire from the sending unit is on the top post and the white/black from the ignition is on the bottom one. This corrected the same problem with my fuel gauge on my 61 Hawk.
