  • Front engine mount on 53 with side fuel pump

    I am putting a V8 in a 53 hardtop.
The engine will have a fuel pump mounted on the side insted on top as the original 53 had.
Do I need to change both front engine mounts or just the driver side one to have clearance for the fuel pump?
    Thanks

Neither. I have a53 with a 55, 259. sitting in th propper holes
It works. I think it's a 4227 pump, but can look to be sure.
    corrected the pump number

you have to use either an airtex (feh) or a glass bowl fuel pump, but other than that no problems. The metal bowl pumps require a little clearancing of the driver's side frame mount, an R1/R2 pump requires a little more aggressive clearancing...
